The Way I Am Now Book Review

Image
The Way I Am Now Author: Amber Smith  Genre: Fiction Overview:  This review is long overdue but in the book “The Way I Am Now” it shows main character Eden growing from the wreckage like the first tree planted on Ground Zero. This book had me in tears because I knew the predicaments Eden found herself in, loving someone so much but knowing you’re not ready but still going into the relationship anyways. I loved how the book showed every single win that Eden had in her life, first big one being quitting her unhealthy habits then cutting off Stephen (boy irked my soul). The biggest win for Eden was in Part Four, pg.314 (in the PDF version I read). In my opinion it was the best chapter of the book and it was the chapter I yelled and cheered the loudest in. It felt like a win for me as well, Eden taking back her power in the trial from the monster who stole from her (something not even I was able to do). Honestly if I were to describe this book in one word it’d be beau...

The Way I Used To Be Book Review

!! WARNING: MENTION OF SEXUAL ASSAULT AHEAD !! The Way I Used To Be Author:  Amber Smith  Genre: Fiction Overview:  Ok y'all, sit tight because this is gonna be a hard one for me. As someone who has experienced the torture of sexual assault and the brutal self-destruction, reinvention of yourself and trying to completely dissociate yourself from the version of you it happened to, this book hit me like a train. It was like I was reading a narrative book about me and boy was it gut wrenching (painfully so). In the book it showed Eden reflecting on what happened to her in 3rd person (Dissociation) and dwelling on how just one small action- one small change would've changed everything, preventing it from happening and jeez it was horror to read through that because it’s always the what-if’s that’ll kill you, watching her go through her high school years and all her phases, watching her self-destruct was gut wrenching and in some parts it made me feel physically ill to r...

Icebreaker Book Review

Image
Icebreaker   Author:  Hannah Grace Genre: Romance Novel, Contemporary Romance, Sports Fiction Overview:  This book was overall very good. I loved the wholesome scenes, the funny scenes and the spicy intimate scenes (my favorite), creating a fairly balanced book. It says it's Sports Fiction but it doesn't really revolve around their sports life, yes it helps the plot but its not like thrown in your face 24/7. For the people who are hopeless romantics but also love, you know...more 18+ content so you can imagine your little hearts desire then this book is definitely for you! I read it in about two days so its not a long lengthy book, its only nearing 450 pages. My only complaint is that I wish there were a sequel book exploring and digging into their life after the Epilogue. Anyways if you are a freaky little hopeless romantic like me, I would definitely suggest this book to you. Rating:  8/10  Recommend ?  Yes!
